ABOUT

Eamon Harrington & John Watkin

Eamon Harrington and John Watkin met in New York in the late 80's. At the time, Eamon was head of Production at VH-1, and John was a producer of TV and radio commercials. They forged their long partnership producing a series of multi award-winning documentary shorts for Greenpeace, and have never looked back.

Founding Planet Grande in 1993, the company has produced one-offs and series documentaries on an eclectic mix of subjects including everything from President Carter to the Bond Girls. Their documentaries on AIDS, Racism and Alzheimer's have all won Emmys, the latter "Grandpa Do You Know Who I AM?" being a collaboration with HBO and Maria Shriver. The luminaries whose stories they have told over the years include: Walter Cronkite, Michael Jackson,  John Carpenter, Wes Craven, and recently the actor Patrick Dempsey in a 5 part series for Discovery/Velocity charting his year-long transformation into race-car driver going all the way to Le Mans, the world's most famous road race. They also have a long-standing relationship with the Paley Center for Media, and have produced several acclaimed specials for them including: Breaking The News- with the most important broadcast journalists of our time telling the stories behind the stories, and A Day In The Life of Television- in which they dispatched 45 film crews behind 15 different TV shows on the same day.
